Workshops & facilitation

Meaningful change starts with meaningful dialogue, supported by tools and methods that keep the conversation light, not cognitively heavy.

My work combines dialogic practice, Theory U, storytelling, systems thinking, participatory leadership and arts-based methods to create spaces where new ideas and relationships can emerge.

From universities and schools to companies, community groups and international conferences, each workshop is tailored to the people in the room while drawing on the same principle: meaningful change begins with meaningful dialogue.

Every workshop is a practice ground, not a lecture. You will talk, listen, move, draw, build and play. The theory is there, but it stays beneath the surface, quietly holding the experience.

Every workshop is a practice ground, not a lecture. You will talk, listen, move, draw, build and play. The theory is there, but it stays beneath the surface, quietly holding the experience.

Each session invites your own experience into conversation with the collective wisdom of the group. Together, they become a source of insight, helping you uncover tangible micro-actions towards the future you aspire to create, for yourself, your team, or your learning community.

I design these experiences for universities (embedded in courses and leadership programmes, or interwoven into existing course designs), organisations (team days and leadership cohorts), teacher development, and open online cohorts. Every workshop is shaped around the people in the room and the future they are working towards.

Standalone workshops

One session. One real shift.

One session. One real shift.

One session. One real shift.

Self-contained sessions that work on their own, as an introduction to this way of working, or woven into a longer programme.

Stories of Leadership

Your stories hold more leadership learning than most textbooks. Story circles are one of the oldest and most human formats there is, and in one we listen our way towards new meaning in your work and life.

Unlocking Your Voice with Storytelling

What do you want your voice to be? The question unfolds differently for each of us. Through story mapping, visual art and conversation, this workshop helps you hear your own answer, personally and collectively.

The Art of Powerful Questions

A good question releases energy that a good answer never will. We explore what it means to design and ask generative questions, holistically rather than linearly, and how they open up innovation, change and creativity in your work.

Visual Harvesting

An introduction to the essentials of visual storytelling and generative listening: how to capture the essence of a conversation, make collective thinking visible, and translate shared insight into meaningful action.

The Flow Game: what can your question do for you?

A hosted game of cards, dialogue and collective wisdom, played around one question that matters to you or your team. It also works beautifully in classroom spaces alongside the art of powerful questions.

Travel the U: a Theory U journey

Travel the U: a Theory U journey

Travel the U: a Theory U journey

A series of interconnected sessions that takes a group down one side of the U and up the other: from seeing freshly, through letting go, to prototyping what wants to emerge. The sequence matters here. Each station builds on the last.

01

01

Travel the U

An introduction to the whole journey: awareness-based change, and the practical arc from intention to idea to prototype.

02

02

The Art of Listening

Four levels of listening, practised live. How we listen decides what a conversation can become, individually and as a collective.

03

03

Case Clinic

Bring a leadership challenge that is current, concrete and important. A learning circle helps you see it, and yourself in it, freshly.

Empathy Walk / Dialogue Walk

A walking conversation designed to build empathy with someone genuinely different from you, and skill in relating across a significant boundary. Practice credit: Professor Ed Schein, Presencing Institute.

05

05

Sensing Journey

Stakeholder interviews and a journey to the edges of your system, where the view is clearest and assumptions loosen, so an initiative can align with the reality it hopes to affect.

06

06

Social Presencing Theatre

Harvesting what the body already knows. A group senses its limiting patterns and its collective potential through embodied practice. Practice credit: Arawana Hayashi, Presencing Institute.

07

07

The Stuck Exercise

One present challenge, moved through the body from where it is stuck towards a future possibility.

08

08

Field of the Future Journalling

Guided writing down one side of the U and up the other: from what you know to what you did not know you knew, and on to concrete action.

09

09

3D Mapping

Building your system with your hands, in physical material. First as it is, then as it wants to become. The hands often understand before the head does.

10

10

The Four Distractions

Co-evolving a prototype, and naming the four things that reliably pull people away from the most essential practice: being present now.

11

11

Harvest & Silent Dialogue

A closing session in silence and in words. What ideas, questions and practices is each of us carrying forward?

The journey can run as an evening series, a multi-day intensive, or a semester-length Collaboratory, in person or online. We select and sequence the stations for your group, its question, and the time you actually have.
